Salvation has a purpose: Good Works.
We should be zealous for good works.
Ephesians 2:10
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Titus 2:11-14
11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
Last week (P1) we had three points:
1) It is a privilege to do the Lord’s work. Love should motivate us.
2) Our Father’s work is the greatest work we can be doing.
3) There is great joy in doing God’s work.
Now three more points to add:
4) Our heavenly Father has promised us that He will be with us as we labor.
Haggai 2:4
Yet now be strong, Zerubbabel,’ says the Lord; ‘and be strong, Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest; and be strong, all you people of the land,’ says the Lord, ‘and work; for I am with you,’ says the Lord of hosts.
Nehemiah 2:18
And I told them of the hand of my God which had been good upon me, and also of the king’s words that he had spoken to me. So they said, “Let us rise up and build.” Then they set their hands to this good work.
5) Our labor is not in vain. God is strengthening us in the work.
1 Corinthians 15:58
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
Hebrews 6:10
For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
6) The reward.
2 Chronicles 15:7
But you, be strong and do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded!”
Colossians 3:24
knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.
Revelation 22:12
“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.
